Project Anywhere (2012–23) is delighted to announce its transformation into a permanent historical archive for future researchers. Project Anywhere was a global exhibition program designed to support art and artistic research at the outermost limits of location-specificity. By employing an innovative double-blind peer review model instead of a curator, Project Anywhere enabled artists and artistic researchers operating outside conventional exhibition circuits to receive peer evaluation, community support, and global dissemination of their work. Every proposal underwent rigorous review by at least four internationally recognized artist academics, with final selections made by an Editorial Committee.

Extending upon its exhibition program, Project Anywhere also hosted a series of biennial New York City based conferences, Melbourne based symposia, and published responses. All these events and publications were co-convened and co-edited by Prof Simone Douglas (Parsons School of Design, The New School) and A/Prof Sean Lowry (University of Melbourne).
The ideas underpinning Project Anywhere’s radical rethinking of art at the outermost limits of location specificity are discussed at length in the 2022 Routledge publication Where is art?, edited by Project Anywhere Editorial Committee members Simone Douglas, Adam Geczy and Sean Lowry.
Importantly, despite the Project Anywhere Global Exhibition Program (2012–23) being hosted and disseminated online, it should not be misconstrued as an online exhibition. Rather, its online presence serves to highlight the existence of works conceptually and physically situated in different times and spaces.
